Statement from UKRCC Trustees

It has come to the attention of the UKRCC that there are some people calling into question the health of the foster Ragdolls that we have in our care. They suggest that the Ragdolls fostered by the UKRCC are putting the foster carers own cats at risk of serious infection. They also call into question the integrity of some of our foster carers and try to discredit the wonderful work that they do.

The UKRCC would like to reassure all those concerned that we do not take any risks with the health of our foster cats or the health of our foster carers own cats. All Ragdolls taken into foster care are fully health checked, FIV and FeLV tested and vaccinated. In many cases they are confined for the entire foster period, either in a purpose built foster pen, or in a room set aside for foster cats and they are not integrated with the resident cats. In the case of Ragdolls who are in long term or life time foster care, they are confined for a quarantine period and until all health checks, testing and vaccinations are done, before they are ever exposed to the foster carer’s cats. Any integration is done with great care, by experienced cat owners and fosterers and under the guidance of a vet. In addition the cats belonging to our foster carers are fully vaccinated and receive regular health checks.

The welfare, health and happiness of all the Ragdolls in the care of the UKRCC is paramount. Every Ragdoll that is fostered receives the highest level of veterinary attention throughout and their needs are always met to the highest standards. Our foster carers, their families and homes have all been assessed for suitability and we consider that they all act in a professional, compassionate way, always following UKRCC procedure and providing the very best of love and care. The UKRCC offer them full support and maintain regular contact with them. All foster Ragdolls remain the responsibility of the UKRCC and the charity take all decisions with regards to their care plan.

The UKRCC takes the blackening of their good name, by those people responsible for spreading unfounded and untrue rumours, very seriously and would strongly encourage those responsible, to cease this behaviour. We are aware of the origins of the rumours and will seek legal advice and take the appropriate actions if it comes to our attention that the perpetrators are continuing to libel or slander us.

The UKRCC is a busy, successful charity, run in a professional way at all times. The results we have with the Ragdolls that we foster speak for themselves....Alfie, Amy, Keiko & Milo, Casey, Sophie, Amber, Chase, Harry, to name just a few, have all gone on to have happy, healthy lives, with fantastic families. Socs, Mitz and Delphi, who are in the life time care of the UKRCC are all thriving with their foster families.

If anyone has any concern about any of the practices or policies of the UKRCC, please contact us by email and we will happily address your worries and offer reassurance, wherever necessary.
